Here’s another card from that lot of 1966 Topps Batman Black Bat cards that I got a while back. This one features one of the coolest cars to ever appear on television – The Batmobile.

It’s a little unfortunate that this particular card doesn’t have a full shot of the car, especially since judging from the bit that we can see, it’s looks a lot cooler than the version that ended up on the show. Here’s the back.

As you can see, the back features copy that continues the story that is told throughout the 55 card set. Since I don’t have the cards that came before #8, I don’t know for sure what happened, but it seems as if someone tried to booby trap the Batmobile to dispose of the Dynamic Duo. The set was also broken down into “mini adventures” and you can see down at the bottom that the first 11 cards (or more accurately, the first 11 after cards #1 and #2, which were just Batman and Robin) cover Batman’s dealings with the Joker, who presumably is the one that tried to blow up the Batmobile.

Incidentally, what reminded me to post this card was that I recently read that the original car from the 60’s TV series recently sold for almost $5 million. And while we’re tossing up Batmobile related links, I thought this was pretty cool as well.
