October 18th, 2012 by slangon
Sadly, Eddie “The Walking Man” Yost passed away at the age of 86 on Tuesday.
Although he only racked up a .254 career average over his 18 years as a Major Leaguer, he had a keen eye at the plate which led to a career .394 on-base percentage. He led the league in walks 6 times over the course of his career and he is currently 11th on the All-Time list for career walks.
Eddie played the majority of his career with original Senators but also spent a few years with the Tigers and the Angels. He was also the Mets third base coach from 1968 through 1976.
