Mets Through the Years: The All-Star(s), 2007
July 12th, 2012 by slangon

There was still high expectations for the Metsies in 2007, as is evidenced by the 4 players they sent to the Mid-Summer Classic that year, 3 of which were voted in as starters.

Carlos was once again in the starting outfield for the N.L.er’s. He went 1 for 3 with a triple and a run scored.

Wright was making his second All-Star start. He also went 1 for 3, notching a single off of Justin Verlander.

Reyes was making his second All-Star appearance, the first that he was actually available to play. He had a huge night, going 3 for 4. He hit a double and 2 singles. He also stole a base and scored a run. A lot of folks have said that he probably would’ve won the MVP had the National League won.

Of course, they didn’t and a lot of that had to do with this guy. Billy Wagner was making his 5th All-Star appearance, his first in a Mets uniform. He came in the 8th inning and gave up a 2 run homer to Mike Lowell, making the score 5-2 in the American League’s favor. Before that, the N.L. was only down by 1 run. The final score was A.L. 5, N.L. 4.
