Mets Through the Years: The All-Star(s), 2002
July 11th, 2012 by slangon

The Mets would only send one player to the Mid-Summer Classic in 2002.

And Piazza was that player. Not surprisingly, he again won the fan voting and got the start behind the plate. Again, he went hitless, but he did drive in a run in the second on a groundout. There was no winner this year as the A.L. and N.L. tied, prompting Bud Selig to make sure that the All-Star game would “count” by awarding World Series home field advantage to the winner.
