Mets Through the Years: The All-Star(s), 1998
July 11th, 2012 by slangon
We’re getting close, but we still have a few years to go. I hope I can get these all done before Friday. In 1998 the Mets once more sent 2 players to the ASG.
This guy’s name is synonymous with the term All-Star, isn’t it? I mean, I know when I think of a baseball All-Star, Rick Reed is the first guy to come to mind. Just kidding. Ha Ha! He sucks. No. Turns out though, he was actually a 2 time All-Star. I know that’s not a ton, but hey, how many All_Star games have you been in? He didn’t play in the game, but apparently he was the third base umpire at the ’98 ASG.
This was the other guy the Mets sent to Colorado that year. He started the game behind the plate and went 1 for 3. His lone hit was a single in the 4th off of Brad Radke. He would come around to score on a Walt Weiss single.
