Mets Through the Years: The All-Star(s), 1966
July 9th, 2012 by slangon

Ron Hunt was back healthy in 1966 and once again was named the Mets representative in the Mid-Summer Classic. Although he had a down year from his 1964 season, his .288 average and .356 on-base percentage still led the team. Sadly, this would prove to be his final season in Queens, as well as his final All-Star appearance.

Although, he didn’t start the game, he came into the game in the top of the 6th to replace Jim Lefebvre at second. He got 2 at-bats. He grounded out in the 7th and then sacrificed Tim McCarver over in the 9th. McCarver would come around as the winning run one batter later.
