Worth the Price of Admission?
March 27th, 2012 by slangon

As you may or may not be aware of, I am a Mets fan. As you are surely aware of, 2012 is looking to be a very rough season for the Mets, and by extension, me as a Mets fan. As you also may or aware of, it is goldang crazy-ass expensive to go to Citi Field to watch a Mets game. Everything from the tickets down to a bottle of water are expensive, as they are at Major League ballparks across the land. Shelling out that kind of dough to watch a baseball team play is a hard nut to swallow, but when that team is of the caliber that the Mets promise to be this season, it just makes it that much tougher. I’ve been to a Mets game or 2 every season since at least 1998, and more importantly to me, I’ve taken my son to at least one Mets game every year since he’s graced us with his presence. That has really been the only thing prompting me to even thing about attending a game in person this year. Until I saw what the Mets tickets will look like this season. I’m curious to know if there’s a ticket for every guy who ever played a game in a Mets uniform. I think I would add a couple of those to my baseball card collection.

  1. That could be the most expensive oddball baseball card set EVER!

  2. Only the season ticket buyers get the pretty tickets (full & maybe half season plans). If you bought the ticket packs, you just get standard tickets (though they do have a 50th anniversary logo).

I’m going to guess that every player in Mets history is not represented. Through the end of 2011, there were 917 of them (even if there were 11 different ticket designs per game, you’d still come up a bit short.)

If I can, I’m going to try to pick up a used ticket with Gary Carter’s image for my player collection.
