As I was listening to the Yankees / Tigers game tonight (or at least as far as they got) either Ron Darling or they other guy mentioned in passing that Justin Verlander won the A.L. Pitching Triple Crown this year.

Although I can’t say that I was aware of that fact, I also can’t say it surprises me. On the other hand, I was well aware of the fact that in the National League, Clayton Kershaw won the Pitching Triple Crown.

Do you know when the last time that happened that pitchers won the A.L. Pitching Triple Crown and the N.L. Pitching Triple Crown in the same season?

So long ago that I’m not even going to attempt to show cards of the guys who did it because I don’t have any cards of one of them.

It was 1924. Walter Johnson won the A.L. Triple Crown and Dazzy Vance won the N.L. Triple Crown. Geez. How many more crazy things can we squeeze into 1 season?
