R.I.P. Killer
May 17th, 2011 by slangon

Sadly, Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew has lost his battle with esophageal cancer. He passed away at his home in Scotsdale at age 74.

According to Ossie Bluege, who was the Washington scout who signed Killebrew to the Senators in 1953, “He hit line drives that put the opposition in jeopardy. And I don’t mean the infielders. I mean the outfielders.”

Rest in peace, sir.

  1. A kid traded me this card in 1976 or 1977 when I was 10 years old. I left it in my pants pocket, my mom washed the pants, and the card went from VG to Poor.

  2. Yikes. That is simultaneously one of the best and worst stories I’ve ever heard. Do you remember what you traded him?
