Happy Birthday to Doc.
November 16th, 2010 by slangon

Can you believe that Doc Gooden turns 46 today? It seems like just yesterday that he was a 19 year rookie, striking out batters at a higher rate than any other rookie pitcher ever (unless you count “Matches” Kilroy, who struck out 513 in his rookie year, way back in 1886. Then again, he also made 68 starts that year, 66 of which he completed.) How could you not love a 19 year old kid with a 98 mile an hour fastball and a curve so good that people called it “Lord Charles” so as not to confuse it with the “Uncle Charlie” that every other pitcher threw?

I always sort of forget how awesome some junk wax is.
