Let’s keep it moving, people. Go.
Pack #2: 2009 Allen & Ginter
#167 Jim Thome – This dudes career numbers are incredible. For some reason though, I always forget he exists. The Forgettable Super-Star.
#75 David Wright – I was watching the Mets pre-game yesterday, and they were talking to D. Wright about the beaning and the DL and all that. He says “You know” a lot. They also showed him talking with Matt Cain out on the field. Tyrus Cobb would be spinning in his grave.
#171 Brett Anderson – I remember when I was a kid, I was convinced that rookie cards of anyone were going to make me rich. I used to hoard them like a maniac. Now, eh…
#340 Richard Gatling – Sweet short print. One of my favorite movies is The Outlaw Josey Wales. And one of my favorite scenes would not hav been possible without this dude. Thanks, Dick.
#9 Ryan Theriot Mini – Every set I try to collect, there seems to be one card that is my Anti-SP. It would seem this years Allen & Ginter has a million of them. I like that his last name can be broken up into The Riot.
#NP52 Daisuke Matsuzaka – It’s nice to see that all those people who were upset that their team didn’t land this guy eventually got over it.
#NNO David Wright Topps of the Class Filler Card – What the?!?
A double dose of D. Wright. Even if one is a lousy filler card from last year. What the hell is that all about? Weird. What’s really weird is I was searching on the Beckett website to put together a checklist of all things Mets and this card came up. It has a book value of $1.50. Stupid Beckett.
Anyway, 2 packs down, 3 to go.
