A Mother Scratchin’ Good Trade
January 18th, 2010 by slangon
One of the flurry of trades I had set up right before the holidays was one with Mother Scratcher from the Achiever Card Blog. I had seen a card that he had pulled on his blog and contacted him about the possibility of acquiring it. A trade was hammered out and an envelope appeared in my mailbox.
Of course, the envelope felt way too fat to contain just what the trade encompassed, so what else could be in there?
Sweet. Some ’90’s junk wax and some heavy metal cards. Awesome. What was more awesome was that I got some cool cards out of them there packs.
A couple of Mets favorites, a Hall of Famer and a dude who has the double distinction of being a future Hall of Fmaer and having one of the coolest nick names in baseball.
Two more Hall of Famers along side 2 Hall of Shamers.
These were extracted from the 1991 Mega Metal pack. It’s pretty lucky for me that out of 12 cards in the pack, 3 were of Eddie.
Now that we’ve had some fun with all that 90’s stuff, let’s move on to the heart of the trade.
Okay, so these were also throw-ins on Mother Scratchers part, but at least they have a lot to do with the heart of the trade, which is…
A 2006 Turkey Red Jose Reyes Jersey Relic. What makes this card so special, though, is it’s actually a relic in two ways. No, I don’t mean a dual relic. It’s a relic in the normal sense, in that it’s a card with a small swatch of game-used material embedded in it. It’s also a relic in that it was part of one of the most epic battles in all of Blogdom.
I’m glad they got there safe and sound. Those Metal cards are pretty cool, aren’t they?
I’ll have a post up on the trade sometime before May.
