A Trade With The Mojo Hand
January 11th, 2010 by slangon

A while back I had posted a handful of cards as trade bait. One of the fish that bit was Jay from the now-on-hiatus-and hopefully-not-fully-defunct Mojo Hand. I sent a Justin Masterson autograph his way and he sent this my way.

2009 Tristar PROjections Autograph #58 Ike Davis

Ike Davis was the Mets first round pick in the 2008 MLB Draft. He’s more or less the reason why they’re not too gung-ho about going out to get a first baseman. I guess they feel that stringly about him and don’t want to end up blocking him for any extended period of time. Of course, if Davis is the first baseman of the future, I wonder where that leaves my man Murph.

After being drafted, Davis finished up the 2008 season in Brooklyn, playing for the Cyclones. He split 2009 between Single A St. Lucie Mets and Double A Binghamton Mets. He hit .288 with seven home runs in 59 games for St. Lucie and finished the season in Binghamton hitting .309 with 13 home runs and 41 RBIs.

By the way, apparently he’s not the first Ike Davis to play Major League ball. Hopefully, he’ll have a longer and more successful career than his namesake.

Also, the “D” in his signature is in a very awkward spot.
