Trade With the Night Owl
January 6th, 2010 by slangon
A while back, I had busted up a pack or two of T206 (I know it’s officially known as just 206, but I will continue to call it T206). In said packs, I had received a Dodger or two. A certain Owl who apparently only comes out at night had contacted me about the availability of said Dodgers. The Dodgers went their merry way and this is what came back to me.
A couple of 2009 Goodwin Champions Metsies.
Additionally, said Owl who only comes out at night threw me these curve balls.
I don’t think anyone needs me to tell them how flippidy floppidy awesome them Goodwins look, but you know what – they look pretty darn good. I’ve said it before, and I guarantee you I’m not the first to do so, but if Upper Deck had just sprung for a little bit better card stock to print them bad boys on, people would be saying “Allen who? Allen Finster? Who’s he?” Oh, and to you Mister Beltran and Mister Santana: You boys got a little over a month to get ready. And by ready I mean put on your big boy pants and go out there and play some Goddamn baseball. Like you got a set. But I digress.
I’m not sure what the official body count is for the ’09 A&G set, but this trade just put me five steps closer.
Thanks again, Night Owl. Pleasure doing business with you.

It’s really about the cardboard isn’t it? I’m almost disturbed by that.
Well, look at it this way. Let’s say you designed a really nice piece of furniture. Then you went out and bought the cheapest wood that you can find to build it. It would still be nice. But then if you went and got some really awesome wood to build it, it would be amazing.
On the flipside, if you just threw together a piece of furniture, regardless of whether it was good or bad wood, it would still look thrown together.
Baseball cards are 90% design. The other half is materials.
Don’t know why I’ve never seen this site before, but it has now been added to the Sports Card Blogroll.
