A New King in Town (For Reals)

It has been done. Yesterday, in the bottom of the 3rd inning, David Wright hit a slow roller just past the pitcher’s reach that the third baseman for the Pirates fielded but was unable to throw out Wright. As a matter of fact, he ended up airmailing it past the first baseman and Wright ended up on second. It was (rightly so) ruled an infield hit. It was the 1,419 hit of David Wright’s career. It was one more hit than anyone else in the history of the Mets franchise.

Congratulations, David.
