Mets Through the Years: The All-Star(s), 1976
July 10th, 2012 by slangon

1976 was a bit of a last hoorah for the Mets as far as All-Star’s go.

Dave Kingman made his first All-Star appearance in his second year in Queens. He started the game in right field and went 0 for 2 with a strikeout.

Jon Matlack made his third and final All-Star team, thanks to his 10-2 record at the break. He did not play in the game.

Once again, Tom Terrific was named to the N.L. All-Star squad. Once again he pitched. Once again he did not fare so well. He threw 2 innings, allowing 2 hits and the only run that the American League would score on a Fred Lynn solo shot. This sadly marked Tom’s last All-Star appearance as a member of the New York Mets.
