R.I.P. Gary Carter
February 16th, 2012 by slangon

Sadly, Hall of Famer and all around awesome guy Gary Carter has lost his battle with brain cancer. He was 57. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this heart breaking time.

We’ll miss you, Kid.

  1. So sad to hear. Yes I know his cancer was announced a while back and about a week ago some tumor pieces they had missed were discovered, but it is still sad. He is one of the players I have always collected. Now I’ll have to wait a while before trying to get any of his cards I’m missing due to the vultures taking advantage of his passing and raising their prices for it.

  2. Not only did we lose a Hall of Famer, we also lost a fellow card collector.

And he was a leader of the 1986 Mets, a real asset to any team he played for.

    RIP “Kid”

  3. Well said.

  4. Chris, was the Kid really a collector? I didn’t know that. Thats just another reason to love the guy

  5. Carter was a collector. I remember reading an interview with him in a Beckett`s or maybe some other hobby magazine back in the late 80s about collecting. He had every Topps set ever made, which blew my mind at the time.

Great guy, really nice to the fans. I got his autograph at a game at Olympic Stadium in Montreal when I was about 13 years old. He will be missed.
