So How ‘Bout Them Football Games?
September 16th, 2009 by slangon

For as long as I can remember I’ve been a baseball fan. Ever since I was a little kid. I’m a Mets fan, but if there’s no Mets game on, I’ll sit down and watch any baseball game. When I’m reading the sports section in the morning, of course I’ll read whatever Mets related stuff there is, but then I’ll go on to read the entire baseball coverage, from start to finish.

Like probably every guy out there, I really learned to love baseball though my dad. My dad, however, loves all sports, and loves watching all sports. Baseball, football and hockey are by far his favorites, but he will sit down and watch basketball, golf, tennis, ping-pong, volleyball, whatever. Somehow, that part of my dad’s love of sports never quite rubbed off on me.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Super Bowl parties. I even legitimately enjoy watching the game itself while I’m busy checking my pool standings and stuffing chicken wings in my mouth. I like watching the last 2 minutes of a basketball game. I’ll watch 2 hockey games a year. But for the most part, I’m a baseball guy through and through, and not too many other sports have crept in there.

Every other year, regardless of how the Mets ended up in the standings, once that last out is called, I immediately start to jones for the next season to start. It’s actually sort of ridiculous. I’m just not happy until pitchers and catchers report the following spring.

This year, however, due to the way the season ended up working out for me as a Mets fan, the end of the season cannot come quick enough, and once it does, I just want to forget about it until next February. So I’ve decided that this year, I’m going to follow football.

Let’s go Giants!
