Dare I Say It? I’m Actually Enjoying This Post-Season

I was thinking that the Rangers might win last night, but I really wasn’t expecting that particular outcome. I almost feel bad for Andy Pettitte. I mean, outside of that mistake pitch in the 1st to Josh Hamilton he pitched really, really well. I guess too bad for him that Clifford Lee pitched really, really, really, really well.

So now the Yanks are sitting in a 2-1 hole and putting their fate in the hands of this guy.

I generally thank God every day that I’m not a Yankees fan, but today I really mean it.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the country, the Phillies and the Giants are getting ready to pick up where they left off on Sunday. I would really love to see the Giants win this series and send the Phils home early, but I just don’t see that happening. I think the Phillies are just too stacked. Then again, as good as Tim Lincecum is, I really didn’t think the Giants were going to win against Halladay. Just goes to show, there’s a reason they actually play the games.

Philadelphia will be throwing their 3rd ace, Cole Hamels, today. There’s a lot of Phillies players that I just cannot stand. Shane Victorino and Jimmy Rollins stand out in that category. With those guys, there’s very concrete reasons why I can’t stand them. Cole Hamels is another guy that I can’t stand, but I can’t quite put my finger on why.

The Giants will be countering with Matt Cain. Cain had a decent season this year. He won 13 and lost 11 and posted a 3.14 ERA. HE struck out 177 and walked 61. On the bad side, lifetime against the Phillies he is 0-3 with a 6.23 ERA.

Something sort of funny struck me when I was reading through the Giants roster. Do you think at the beginning of the year, Albert Pujols had any idea that come October he would be sitting home watching the playoffs on TV and seeing these guys?
