You Go, Dallas’ Grandma. Also Known as a Non-Story.

Normally, I don’t pay too much attention to the American League until it starts getting to that time of the year when a clearer picture begins to emerge as to what teams will be making it to the post season. I also normally get really frustrated when the big news of the day is just some not really feud that the media tries to play up and make into an actual news piece. All that being said, I must admit that I’ve been thoroughly entertained by the Dallas Braden / A-Rod battle so far.

As I’m sure everyone knows, Oakland pitcher Dallas Braden was pissed at Alex Rodriguez for running over the pitchers mound while returning to first base after a foul ball.

First off, it’s always entertaining to see anyone take on a big bad Yankee. Secondly, it makes it that much better when a dude like Braden, who is the proud owner of an 18-23 record, fires off at A-Rod, who just tied Frank Robinson for 7th place on the all-time home run list. It just multiplies the entertainment value when A-Rod dismisses everything people ask him about Braden as if trying to make someone as great as A-Rod even think about someone as insignificant as Braden for even the few seconds it takes to answer the question is just ludicrous. The entertainment keeps coming when Braden flat out says he wants to fight A-Rod. (By the way, my favorite part of that article is when Braden says “We don’t do much talking in the 209.” referring to I guess the area code of Stockton, CA where he grew up.) Add to all that entertainment the fact that after A-Rod basically poo-poos Bradens abilities as a Major League pitcher, the guy goes out and throws, not just a no-hitter, but a perfect game. Then the cherry on top of the sundae of hilarity comes when Dallas Bradens grandmother tells A-Rod to “stick it”. Priceless. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

  1. Dallas Braden is now my hero.

(Even though he threw a perfecto at may Rays. #$$@ him for that, but he’s awesome for the other stuff)

  2. Interestingly enough, the last two perfect games that have been thrown in the Majors have been against the Rays.
