Christmas Cards (The Kind Without Glitter)
December 29th, 2009 by slangon
It’s been quite a busy few days here at SlangKo Corporate. There was the obligatory last minute Christmas shopping. This was also the first holiday season with the baby, so of course we were running around to and fro visiting everybody that wanted to see the boy .
I finished up with the Johnny Lattner autograph giveaway. Congratulations again to Wicked Ortega on the win. That should hopefully go in the mail later on today. Also thanks again to everyone who signed up.
In other exciting news, thanks to everyones support, I came in second Beardy’s Ho Ho Holiday Contest. In the end, the Krampus was no match for the kid in the pink bunny suit. Oh well, as the kid in the pink bunny suit’s dad said, “There’s always next year.” I would like to extend a hearty congrats to the kid in the pink bunny suit.
There’s also been a flurry of trades going on behind the scenes that will also be getting mailed out today, as well as a flurry of TTM requests that were sent out right before Christmas.
On top of all that, I was lucky enough to get a bunch of card stuff for Christmas. I got a T206 blaster, a Sweet Spot Tin and a AMerican Express gift card that was turned into 2 hobby boxes from Dave and Adam’s Card World, a pile of cards from Check Out My Cards, and a few assorted eBay scores, including one that I’m particularly excited about.
Let’s start off with the Sweet Spot tin, which was a gift from the wifey.
I’m not sure, but I get the impression that this is basically the Sweet Spot version of a blaster. It has 3 packs of 8 cards each, with 1 guaranteed autograph or relic. It’s sort of cool to get this as a gift, because it is defiantly not something I would have bought for myself.
And here’s the contents.
In general, the cards are nice looking. They feel really good. The stitches on the baseball are embossed and the card-stock they used is really nice and hefty. Pretty much all the players I got are cool. I’m psyched by the David Wright. Ichiro, Chipper, Ryan Howard, Prince Fielder, Matt Holliday. All cool. I can’t say I’m particularly bummed by any one card in this tin, which is cool. The Peavy relic is nice, even if it says White Sox, but shows Padres. I really like that Grady Sizemore card, with him in that throwback uniform. Hell, I even like the stupid Upper Deck Retrospective card of Tiger Woods.
All in all, nice little box of cards from the wife.
Stay tuned for the T206 blaster, coming soon.
